History

Recognizing the benefits of working together to promote the restaurant industry in Texas, 11 leading Texas restaurateurs held an organizational meeting in Dallas in September 1937. Temporary officers were elected and the Texas Restaurant Association was born.

In 2012, the TRA is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Over those decades, association has served its members and the foodservice industry with political advocacy, industry education and foodservice training. The association maintains its focus on supporting the business of the Texas restaurateur. This commitment results in the continued growth and effectiveness of the association.

Hall of Honor
The Texas Restaurant Association Hall of Honor is the highest recognition members of the TRA can achieve. Winners are selected by a committee made up of past TRA presidents and Hall of Honor members. Individuals are honored for their commitment to the foodservice industry, the association and their communities. New Hall of Honor members are inducted at the TRA President’s Gala held each June during the Southwest Foodservice Expo. The list of Hall of Honor members is a who’s who of industry leaders.
